SALARY Starting salary for this position is $1680.
00 bi-weekly.
If an incumbent is currently working with FDOC, their current salary can be reviewed for possible retention.
WORK SCHEDULE This position is located at a 24-hour facility.
Staff members must be agreeable to working a 12 HOUR shift schedule:
6AM - 6PM AND 6PM TO 6AM.
This includes, but is not limited to ensuring facility coverage, activities, holidays, and emergency situations.
Minimum
Qualifications:
(1) Be at least 18 years of age.
(2) Be a citizen of the United States notwithstanding any laws of the State to the contrary.
(3) Be a high school graduate or its equivalent as the term may be determined by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
(4) Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, nor have received a dishonorable or undesirable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States.
Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere or is found guilty of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication.
(5) Have his/her processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency.
(6) Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician based on specifications established by the Commission.
(7) Have a good moral character as determined by a background investigation under procedures established by the Commission.
(8) Have completed a basic recruit training course or its equivalent as established by the Commission.

Performs crisis intervention functions to include but not limited to subduing violent or uncooperative residents, defending persons against attack, or preventing escapes, using restraints or other approved methods.
Maintains facility security.
This includes performing contraband searches of either male or female residents and other persons (both clothed and unclothed).
Experience with a resident who has been identified as being an extreme security risk to the Department and has demonstrated behavior that is or could be harmful to himself or herself and has been designated as a special risk resident.
Experience in special tactics for the intervention and resolution of life-threatening crisis events.
Experience with crisis intervention techniques and methods used to offer immediate, short-term help to individuals who experience an event that produces emotional, mental, physical, or behavioral distress or problems.
Ability to control, escort, or geographically relocate a resident, to quell a disturbance and to prevent a hazard to any person.
Experience with psychiatric restraints and devices, procedures, or techniques used to restrict movement or behavior as to greatly reduce or eliminate the ability of an individual to harm himself, herself, or others.
Experience with a resident who exhibits bizarre, mentally disordered, or self-destructive behavior and requires special watch or self-harm observation procedures.
